Occasionally we hear greyhound attacks on humans and sometimes it becomes fatal. Each year 4.7 million dog attacks happen in the U.S., as per Disease Control and Prevention Centers.
Among those greyhound attacks, roughly 16 casualties happen. Greyhound aggression rate is normal and they are docile, easy to maintain, and calm breed of dog. However, they can become violent if they sense evoked, scared and worried. Rescued greyhounds are more active in aggression.
Despite they are docile and require inferior care bet is cautioning that rescued and adopted greyhounds can be found in the early stage of fear. And they are commonly ready to bite humans.
Dr. Karen Dawson said in a report “I see the bites on the child’s face”. He is an animal behavior expert.

Greyhound growling at their owner is normal behavior. To avoid such situations, they need to be properly taught. Adopted greyhounds take some time to adjust to their new environment.
Common greyhound behavior problems including barking, jumping up, mouthing, digging, and chewing. This breed tends to collect things.
Anxiety and fear are the toughest behaviors in greyhounds that can be seen in an exotic environment.
Misguided Grayhounds Adoption
According to veterinarians and dog specialists, the greyhound adoption industry required huge enhancements. Because many loopholes can be seen in misleading advertising of greyhounds for rehoming.
A report from the Journal of Veterinary Behaviour showed greyhounds were overpromoted in behavioral clinics in Gold Coast and Brisbane.
A study found that 7,858 dogs were offered with behavioral issues. Dr. Arnott said that the potential cause of the behavioral problems, including greyhound attacks on humans and other animals, was that the dogs had been trained and bred for facing and not as home pets.
She told that instead of placing these dogs as perfect dogs, amazing with kids, or ideal dogs, it is better to advertise these pets to professional dog owners. Because they are capable to handle any type of greyhound issue.
