The sale of Oppo and OnePlus smartphones have been banned by this country. Find out what the whole matter is. Why has it been stopped?

There’s bad news for oppo and one plus fans. Both of these smartphones have been banned in Germany. According to a report by Nokiamob.net, the Mannheim Regional Court has ruled in favor of Nokia against its recent patent dispute with Oppo. The court gave the ruling in two lawsuits filed by Nokia against Oppo and OnePlus. Finland-based Nokia sued the Chinese smartphone giant in four different countries in 2021. It has its first hearing in Germany, after which both brands have been banned from selling smartphones in Germany.
Are Oppo and OnePlus phones banned in Germany forever?
No. This is Nokia’s first win. Oppo can then continue this fight in the high court. For the time being, Oppo and its sister brand OnePlus have been banned.
Why is there a ban?
The fight between Nokia and Oppo and OnePlus is over patents. The patent reportedly protects a technology for scanning WiFi connections. In July 2021, Nokia filed several patent infringement lawsuits against Oppo in several countries in Asia and Europe, including India, the UK, France, and Germany.
According to a CNBC report, the lawsuit claims that Oppo is using Nokia’s standard-required patent (SEP) and non-SEP and unlicensed security features such as UI/UX. The lawsuit was filed after the previous patent licensing deal between the two companies was not renewed. Oppo and Nokia signed an agreement in November 2018 which expired in June 2021.
What Does Nokia Have to Say?
Nokia says Oppo rejected its “fair and reasonable” offer. “We are in talks with Oppo to renew our patent licensing agreement, but unfortunately, they have rejected our reasonable and reasonable offers. Litigation is always the last resort for us. We offered to mediate to resolve the matter amicably and we are still confident that this will be the best way forward.
Oppo is surprised
Oppo called the lawsuit “shocking” and filed counter lawsuits against Nokia. Responding to the lawsuit, Oppo said that Oppo respects and protects its own and third-party intellectual property rights and is committed to patent lh3insensing cooperation in the industry.
Nokia has also put Apple and Lenovo in court before. Nokia’s move to court is not the first case for Oppo. Earlier, Nokia had also put Apple in court in 2017. Apple gave $2 billion to Nokia to resolve the matter.
