Kathmandu: Complete preparations to be carried out in a free, fair, reliable, and fear-free environment. The Electoral Commission has said that the local level election has entered the final and critical stages. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, commission spokesman Shaligram Sharma Paudel said that the local level election – which will take place on 30th May – was in the final and critical stages.
In local elections, 65 parties are elected politically. Even a similarly independent candidate has been elected by candidacy. The commission has indicated that there will be competition between one 1 lakh, 45 thousand, 11 candidates in local elections.
Poudel said that the entire preparation was completed by the office of the Chief Election Officer and Election Officer to ensure the election was held in a clean, free, fair, credible, and fearless environment. In this election, 355 candidates from various political parties have been elected unopposed. He informed that 35 independent candidates – including 6 of them vice presidents – had also been elected unopposed.
From 21 thousand 955 polling stations at 10 thousand 756 polling stations, 177 million 333,723 voters are competing in a total of 35 thousand 221 positions. It also includes those who have been elected unopposed.
One million 9,000 88 employees and 65 thousand 865 self-employed people – including the electoral materials required at the polling station – have reached their respective polling stations, said spokesman Paudel.
