New York: US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is meeting with a senior Chinese diplomat. Sullivan is scheduled to meet with Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi in the Italian capital, Rome, on Monday.
During the meeting, the two leaders will discuss the Ukraine war. According to Reuters, Sullivan could warn Beijing of financial sanctions if it aided Russia in the war in Ukraine.
The news agency quoted a US official as saying that Sullivan had warned that China would be isolated worldwide if it continued to support Russia. Officials in the United States and other countries have sought to persuade China in recent years that it will have to pay the price for trade flows and the development of new technologies in favor of Russia.
