Moscow has stated it will be forced to maintain its security in the Baltic if Finland and Sweden enter Nato, including by deploying nuclear spears, as the war in Ukraine penetrated its seventh week and the nation braced for a significant attack in the east.
However, the defense minister of the Lithuanian, Arvydas Anušauskas, declared on Thursday that Russia already had nuclear harpoons missile kept in its Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, which edges Lithuania and Poland. That declaration has not been unaidedly confirmed but the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) said in 2018 that nuclear weapon warehouse bunkers in Kaliningrad had been elevated.
Russian former president Dmitry Medvedev, an aged associate of Russia’s guard council, told on Thursday that all its powers in the area would be braced if the two Nordic countries entered the US-led alliance.
