Mumbai police have filed a copyright infringement case against six people, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
A court order has been filed against Google CEO Sundar Pichai and five other officials of the company for violating the Copyright Act, ‘Mumbai Police said.
Bollywood film director and producer Suneel Darshan fired an FIR against Pichai on the issue of copyright violation. This FIR was registered on January 25 in Mumbai. According to Suneel, YouTube is earning millions of dollars through its videos and film music for a long time and he is fighting this war for the last eleven years.
According to Indian news agency NDTV, the case was registered by the Mumbai police based on a complaint lodged by film director Sunil Darshan.
As claimed by Darshan, he was fighting on this issue for 11 years and no one listen to him. He wrote many letters to administrators of Google and YouTube complaining about the issue, but no response happened nor any effect. After that, no one was ready to write his complaint and he knocked on the door of the court. After that, his FIR is accepted.
According to Darshan’s complaint, Google allowed an unauthorized person to post the movie ‘Ek Hasina Thi Ek Diwana Thi’ on YouTube without its permission.
Indian-American Pichai was awarded the Padma Bhushan on Wednesday on the occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day.
