Two Sixers Games Shifted To National TV In January
The NBA today announced two schedule changes for Philadelphia 76ers games in January.
- Friday, January 6 – Philadelphia’s game against Chicago will not be televised on ESPN and will be rescheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
- Tuesday, Jan. 10 – Philadelphia’s game at Detroit will no longer be televised on TNT and will be scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
I joked in the caption that the league hates the system, but that’s obviously because the Bulls and Pistons have performed below expectations this season.
As of this writing, Chicago is 15-19, good for 10th in the East, and All-Stars Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan’s retirement rumors are swirling. Detroit is 9-28 in the Eastern Conference as 2021 first-overall pick Cade Cunningham is injured in the season finale.
This schedule change is unfortunate for Sixers fans who rely on national television to catch their favorite team. But for local listeners, we East Coast Olds can appreciate that the game has been moved to 7 p.m. EST. I would appreciate the extra 30 minutes of sleep that night.
