Kathmandu news: Nepalese Congress Minister Gagan Thapa has said that 6 urgent work needs to be started to address the waste in the Kathmandu Valley. Thapa has suggested this at a time when there is no long-term solution, even though the rubbish has begun to rise from Kathmandu after a long time.
He has said that the relentless initiative of Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balendra Shah and Urban Development Minister Ramkumari Jhakri for waste management is commendable. ‘Now something needs to be done urgently and generously to prevent a similar crisis of rubbish again, ‘he wrote on Facebook.
According to Thapa, 6 things need to be started immediately.
1. The discussions called by the Ministry of Urban Development were to be said by residents of the Sysdol-Bunchredada area, the next agreement the Ministry has reached is the 175th agreement. Every time there is a crisis, there is an agreement like this but not an implementation. So there is deep apprehension that the agreement will not be implemented. This natural doubt will have to be addressed this time by implementing the agreement literally and within the same time limit.
2. The Continuing generosity of the Ministry of Urban Development is essential for this to be done in a timely way that the federal government has specified. Some of the work written in the agreement falls within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Urban Development other than the Ministry of Urban Development. In some cases, the prime minister’s office needs the initiative to get the work done in time. In particular, the issue of land acquisition must end in this financial year. To compensate for the humanitarian compensation set out following the law, the prime minister must arrange for the appropriation of funds to be made in the budget for this financial year.

3. We have proposed monitoring, a coordination committee of MPs from Kathmandu, Dhadin, and Nuwakot to monitor what is said to be done within a certain time of the federal government and even coordinate when necessary. This committee will follow each week’s sitting agreement, co-ordinate if it is uncomfortable, and force the non-working body to work. When a problem arises, it will have to be done to prevent the problem from getting worse than heating up.
4. The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police will carry out the work specified for the garbage-affected area within a timely time. Since some subjects are beyond the sole jurisdiction of the metropolitan area, other relevant agencies must fully support the metropolitan area of Kathmandu.
5. All other local levels of sending waste also need to work in constant coordination with the Kathmandu metropolitan area.
6. Kamanpa has said that only waste separated from the source will be collected from the 1st of October. The campaign should be made meaningful by joining the entire metropolitan area. All the wards of Kamanpa, but nothing, must be made to make the campaign a success, including informing the city’s residents within their biggest months of the month.
